Chromecast 4k error when formatting usb. Could not format

I am trying to add usb storage to my chromecast 4k

The chromecast recognizes the USB and asks to format it. The process starts but then I see the home screen with an error message "Could not format"
I have formatted the usb as FAT32 but nothing happens.

When I check again in the storage settings it just shows "USB Safely ejected" and nothing else can be done

What am I missing?

So, it means that I cannot use a USB or SD to increase storage in the Chromecast 4k version? Is it only in other versions that this can be done?

Good question. Yes, it is not supported on any versions of Chromecast devices. There are users who try to explore things and, for some reason, find a way to make it work. Despite it, we still don’t recommend it because it may affect how the device works. Let me know if you still have questions.
