Hi,
I just purchased a 3rd Gen Chromecast. I have a Nest Mini operating on an Asus ZenWiFi XT8 Mesh.
I use the Nest Mini activate a night time routine that turns off the TV through the Chromecast. The Chromecast & Nest Mini are connected to different Nodes on the mesh.
Google Home keeps saying that the Chromecast is offline when I activate the routine from the Nest Mini. If I ativate the routine from my phone in the same room as the Chromecast, it "usually" works. This makes me think there is an issue with Chromecast compatibility with the Mesh Network.
I have a Gen 2 Chromecast that works without issue in this same setup.
Is there anything that the Gen 3 needs to have configured to get it to work in the same way?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Jeram,
Actually, I changed the name of the chromecast device from TV to "Telly" and hey presto, it all works again ! If I use the name TV, it breaks again. Something must have changed at the Nest side.
Hope that helps someone else.
Regards,
Eamon.

Hey there Eamonw,
I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that Chromecast issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I know things get pretty complicated when it comes to networking issues. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:
I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!
Best regards,
Jeran

Hey there Eamonw,
I'm sorry about my slow response times, but I did some research on the differences between the Chromecast Gen 3 and older models. The only real differences I could find between them were the design, and some hardware improvements, making the 3rd generation Chromecast faster than the 1st and 2nd generation. The major network differences between the 1st generation and the other two, is that the 1st generation Chromecast is only able to connect to a 2.4GHz network, while the 2nd and 3rd generation were able to connect to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to find any more information about this, but if you had any other questions or concerns, I'd be happy to help out.
Best regards,
Jeran
