Please help. I am staying in a quarantine Hong Kong hotel. I want to use my chromecast device to watch TV but the hotel needs the IP address to allow me device access to the WIFI.
My problem here is that I did not know I needed this before I left UK and never registered with google home app to obtain this. Also my partner registered as he set up the amazon, netflix etc accounts. How can I obtain this? I will assume no reply means impossible.
I look forward to your reply if you can help.
Kindest regards

Hi there,
Do you mean the MAC address?
You might be able to set the device up temporarily with a mobile hotspot and then get the MAC address information from the device settings within the Google Home app.

Or, third suggestion...
Order and use a travel router.
That will make a new private network without the restrictions. Connect it to the hotel network and then connect all your devices to that travel router's network. The security is also a lot better that way.
Keep in mind that most hotel shared networks like that are grossly overloaded so streaming may not be a smooth experience.
Also, you don't really WANT to get connected to a big hotel shared network like that. If you did, your Chromecast would be visible to everyone else on the network and they could cast to it at any time. Using a travel router makes a private network of your own and then nobody else will be able to see your Chromecast or cast to it.

Do you have an Yahoo or Microsoft Outlook account by chance that you used from your home Ip address that the device was connected to? Because Yahoo and Microsoft Outlook are known to include the Ip address in ur email header when sending an email to someone that's all I can think of to do anyways
