Hi, my chromecast recently stopped connecting to my phone after a phone update. I think my Chrome cast is first gen, bought in 2018 just as another version was released, but have found nothing on the box to confirm this.
The phone update brought with it a new feature, protected management frames which effectively encapsulates wi fi traffic in a different manner.
I am hoping to have someone confirm that this new feature is the issue, and advise if some of the more recent chromecasts are compatible with protected management frames.
Don't want to upgrade to something that still does not work.
Any assistance would be appreciated

If you turn the setting off, does your Chromecast start working again? Doesn't like sound Chromecast, or certainly the older gen you have, supports this feature.

Thanks for the response David,
I cannot turn it off on my phone ( greyed out ) but checked my tablet ( same manufacturer ) and was able to turn it off. Now casting again.
So the protected frames management with my 2018 model chromecast was definitely an issue.
Saves me upgrading though, now my tablet can cast too. Let's hope they don't enforce it turned on. 😬
