Chromecast Remote Setup

I have factory reset my dongle.  Going through initial setup the remote was set up to work with my TV.  After setup I tried to setup the volume keys to work with my Edifier bookshelf speakers.  When I originally got my Chromecast this worked perfectly.  Now when trying to set the volume keys I get to the second IR code and never get an option to choose to keep that code or go to the next.  The Yes or No never show up leaving me stuck in the setup wizard

Hi Sephiroth1979,

Thanks for reaching out. Although there are TV brands that can be set up for Chromecast with Google TV however, not pairable/compatible with the Chromecast Voice Remote.

As a workaround, you may search again for other TV remote codes online that match the same code as Edifier bookshelf speakers, and select that other brand instead. You may also try to choose a different brand from the list, which in your view has the same country of manufacture as the TV or you may try to plug in your Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV. However, please take note that this step may or may not work.

Thanks,

Jennifer

The thing is that the remote was working perfectly before my factory reset.  What I've found out now is when I try to run the Wizard to set up the remote it runs very slowly.  So at times it's taking 5-10 minutes for the Yes or No to show up on the screen.  I managed to get the remote programmed to my liking although a new issue has cropped up where the IR signal will only work intermittently.  After the remote has sat for a few minutes.  I can use the volume, although it only works for approximately 3-12 button presses until it needs a "rest" again.

Hi there,

Thanks for the swift reply. I'd suggest you submit feedback about this via the Google Home app to let the Google Engineering team know about this. While they won't respond directly back to you, this is the best way to let them know about this. Here's how

Thanks,

Jennifer
