Chromecast Ultra audio drop / sound interference issue

Dear Team members,

Unfortunately I am having an audio issue with my Chromecast Ultra.

The sound drops in every 10 seconds - seems like a sound interference through HDMI - only when I am passing the audio to the AV Receiver. Not only when I try to cast something, the same thing happening when I try to play anything on Disney+, Amazon Prime etc. Except if I play movies through my media player. Which is strange, as the connection is the same HDMI eARC.

No issue with the TV internal speakers. And as soon as I unplugged the Chromecast from the TV, everything is back to normal. So the Chromecast cause something to the HDMI port.

I am using the original power adapter, the Chromecast connected via Wi-Fi and the TV is a Samsung UHD smart (however a bit old, so no built-in Chromecast). All firmware (TV, Receiver, Chromecast etc.) updated.

I have tried to connect to the TV HDMI port with an extension cable to move away from the TV and away from the other HDMI cables, but unfortunately doesn't solved the problem.

I found a audio forum on google search; they tried to do something with ethernet adapter not using wifi and tinfoil etc.

I did try to use LAN connection, doesn't solved the problem.

Could someone please help me out or give me some advice, if anyone else experienced the same issue?

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

I am having a similar intermittent audio problem with Chromecast Ultra when I set it up on a new 4K projector (Fengmi T1) only when casting Disney+. Netflix seems to work fine.

Didn't have any problems previously when it was connected to an old Sony LCD TV and a LG OLED.

Hopefully someone here will be able to advise on this issue.

Best,

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out and for providing a detailed info of your issue. Please plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your receiver or projector. If you have a different receiver or projector, please try to plug in your Chromecast and observe its behavior. Rebooting and resetting your Chromecast might also help.

Thanks,

Jennifer
