Chromecast and Deco

aconnelly55

Hi

After installing a new deco mesh system I am unable to cast to my chromecast. I can see that the chromecast has connected to one of the satellite decos and my phone and laptop are connected to another satellite deco. Any ideas?

Thanks

Ann

Hey there aconnelly55,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that connection issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I can imagine it's pretty confusing to figure out. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • Are you able to connect the Chromecast to the other network?
  • Are you connecting to a 2.4GHz network or a 5GHz network?
  • Have you already followed the troubleshooting steps from this article?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hi Jeran

Thanks for the reply. We were using the Chromecast successfully on the previous router and since we installed the deco system with the new router we have encountered problems. The deco system can be both 2.4 and 5ghz.  Re troubleshooting the chromecast here's the update

  • The mobile phone, chromecast and tv are on the same wifi network
  • I’ve reset the chromecast
  • The routers firmware is up to date and I’ve reset the router
  • The light on the Chromecast is solid white though the Chromecast is not discoverable in the Google Home app.
  • The TV source sees the Chromecast when I select source
  • I set up a guest network on the deco system (5ghz only) and connected both the tv and phone to the guest system though no joy
  • I don’t have an ethernet to hdmi cable that would allow me to connect the chromecast directly to the router

I’m out of ideas now so would welcome any other suggestions

Thanks

Ann

Hey aconnelly55,

I'm sorry about the slow response again, things on the forum were a little backed up, but the responses shouldn't be so slow anymore. Anyway, I was looking into this issue, and I found this thread online from a user with a similar issue. One user mentioned that their "Chromecast Audio finally connected almost instantly when I turned off "Fast Roaming" from within the advanced settings." There are also a few more troubleshooting steps in that thread I would recommend you try if that disabling that setting doesn't fix it.

I look forward to your response on this, if you had any more questions, please let me know.

Best regards,

Jeran
