Chromecast and XBox

When I am casting from my Macbook to my Chromecast enabled TV, sometimes my grandson's XBox interferes with the transmission. Suddenly, it will appear in the cast box and the transmission to the tv stops. When I start it again, it will stop again if the XBox disappears from the cast box. Sometimes this happens every few minutes! A thing which drives me crazy! He tells me the XBox is NOT connected to the downstairs TV nor is it even plugged in! How can this even happen?

I have searched through these pages and not found anything similar to my issue. This does not happen when I use my Ipad and the casting tab or when I am using a streaming service that has a cast tab built in...only with services that do not have the built in tab.

UPDATE: I discovered that, while the XBOX was not plugged in (to the wall or anything else), it DID have batteries. We took the batteries out and, voilà, no interference. BUT, the question remains, HOW does one deal with this?

Hey CPSwoveland,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Since this thread hasn't had activity in a while, we're going to close it to keep content fresh.

Was it working before? If so, are you getting the same result when plugging the Chromecast to a different TV? You could try rebooting your devices and try to plug in the XBox to a different HDMI or TV. If you have additional questions, feel free to submit another post and provide as many details as possible so that others can lend a hand. Hope this helps!

Best,
Alex
