Chromecast cutting out

MWagstaff

my Chromecast with Google TV cuts out to a black screen momentarily, flashes a box that says "HDR" in the top right corner of the screen, and continues playing. Or stops playing and says video unavailable. I thought it may be the Chromecast so bought a new one and same issue. I have also changed HDMI port to each and reset numerous times.

7 year old LG TV but other streaming stick (Amazon Fire) works fine.

Your seven years old LG TV really supports HDR?

It does. 4k.

Let's suppose there no issue with HDMI handshake protocol.

Given the fact that Chromecast with Google TV 4K was recently updated to Android 12, in my opinion, this sounds like a software bug and doesn't surprise me, given the fact that the USB audio routing to external accessories is not working either.

However, in your case, have you tried to set the refresh rate to a lower value, like 30 Hz and observe behaviour?

Settings changed. Will update if issue is resolved or continues. Highest of thanks

Hey there,

Thanks for the help here, djtetei.

MWagstaff, it's us again. How's it going? Did you manage to get your device working? If you're still having trouble, you may also try to plug in the Chromecast into a different TV screen if one is available.

Regards,

Jennifer

Hi guys,

Problem is still persisting if not worse. I have checked the Chromecast in two of my other TVs and no issue there.

I have also tried all resolution settings as suggested and to no avail. I fear it may just be the end of the life of the TV.

Hi MWagstaff,

Thanks for getting back to us with an update. If the issue is isolated with your LG TV, you may reach out to your TV manufacturer for further help. There might be some settings that need to be checked or the firmware might need to be updated.

Let us know if you have other questions or concerns otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Best,

Jennifer
