Chromecast defaults to AUDIO DESCRIPTION

I have a brand new Chromecast that is defaulting to AUDIO DESCRIPTION (for blind people.) I turn it off, it goes to the next episode, it turns it back on. Annoying AF. I noticed this specifically on the Peacock app, but I do not believe it is a problem with their app as I have it on other Android TV devices and they do not do this.

Hi,

Are you disabling the Talkback feature like in this older thread: How to stop talkback ?

If you've already done that you may want to factory reset your Chromecast and set it up again.

Talkback is something different but yes, it is off. I've also uninstalled/reinstalled Peacock and as a last resort factory reset my chromecast. No change.

Is it only happening with Peacock?

Peacock does this to me on an Nvidia Shield and my phone too. Don't think it's a Chromecast issue.

I think you are right. Peacock has forwarded to their development team. Uh-huh. Sure they have.

oh boy @DuffMan .  Hopefully they get a quick fix out.  Keep updating the Peacock app as well. (delete/reinstall).

This is the only thing I could find: https://www.peacocktv.com/help/article/audio-description

Yep. If you turn if off it stays off for the current episode. When the next episode starts it turns itself back on.

I just noticed this myself tonight. Five episodes worked fine, sixth episode started the Audio Description. I moved over to my 3rd Gen chromecast, same TV different hdmi port, and it did not happen. So not a Peacock issue. My talk back is disabled also.

Hey there,

DuffMan and Bob13, how's it going? Did you manage to get it working? Also, have you reached out to Peacock? If yes, have you heard any news from them?

MrAATX50, I'm sorry to hear that you're also experiencing the same issue watching Peacock on your Chromecast device and thanks for being a step ahead of us. Have you tried resetting your Chromecast? If you haven't yet, please try that. Also, if this is isolated when using Peacock, it will be best to reach out with Peacock support for further help.

Thanks for lending a hand here, JillG — I appreciate it!

Regards,

Jennifer
