I would like to add my Chromecast device to my Nest Speaker group, this doesn’t seem possible at the moment, will this ever be supported? Thanks!

Hi @Stevesemm no, it's not possible to mix two different formats -- one is designed to carry voice and audio and the other is designed for audio. You can follow the instructions here if that's what you have in mind but I do not believe it works with the 1st generation CC, so you would have to upgrade. You can add a CC Audio device (separate purchase) to a speaker group when it's connected to a speaker and the same WiFi network.

Thanks for the reply! I was hoping to use an HDMI device (CC) that connects to my HDMI receiver in the same speaker group as my audio devices. I can use it separately but would be awesome if I could broadcast the same feed throughout the inside and outside of my house by using a speaker group. Looks as though Chromecast Audio has been discontinued, will the newer generations of CC support this?

Hey there Stevesemm,
I would check out this article called Create and manage speaker groups. It has a list of every device compatible of being added to a speaker group:
"Compatible devices include Google Home, Google Nest Mini (2nd gen), Google Home Mini (1st gen), Google Home Max, Google Nest Audio, and Google Nest displays, Google Nest Wi-Fi point, Chromecast with Google TV, Chromecast, Chromecast Ultra, Chromecast Audio, and devices with Chromecast built-in.
Note: This feature is not supported on Chromecast (1st gen)."
I hope that answers your questions! You can read the article if you would like to get more details.
Best regards,
Jeran
