Hi
my chromecast ultra has recently had a fault, all casting works fine, the image displayed however is showing interlaced lines across the whole screen and is jumping up and down as well, as if an old crt tv with a scrambled image. Was flashing orange and also pulsing orange light
have reset factory setting
changed hdmi ports
changed from dc power to USB port

Before performing a hard reset on the Chromecast device, try to reboot the TV by unplugging it from the main power grid for about 5 minutes.

Hi djtetei
so a combination of disconnecting the tv from power and resetting the device seems to have worked, I had the issue yesterday and last night it worked fine so thought nothing of it, I’ll see if the issue returns and perform the same steps and hope it solves it again if it does
thanks for the help

Power the Chromecast device directly from the wall power output.

I have done so exclusively, I only tried the usb of the tv to determine the power adapter wasn’t the issue

The interlaced lines could simply be from the video content being played. Some video materials are shot interlaced. Another possibility is that the video file was encoded with wrong flag settings.

I understand how video can have interlaced lines but this is a new issue and the image is visibly jumping as well, I attached an image of the lines you can see which are on the ambient images

This behaviour is present on other video content also? If so, hard reset the Chromecast device and run the setup procedure again.

It is present on all video and all holding screen/ambient images even when not casting, even on the google logo when booting up, even when the screen says performing a factory reset
