Chromecast is causing picture fading on and off on Samsung 4K HDTV

I’ve been a very happy Chromecast & Google TV user for about a year now,  I have one for each of our 4 TV’s.  Recently, with no change to our setup, our feed into a 65” 4K TV began fading the picture in and out - often losing sound too.   I tried several of the other Chromecast units.  Same problem

I then connected the Roku device (that the Chromecast replaced!) which worked perfectly.   Very frustrated, after following most of the many online “fixes” to similar sounding problems, nothing has worked.  Looks like I’m stuck with a Roku!

Hey there DundasJohnny,

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that picture fading issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I can imagine this makes for a terrible viewing experience. Now, you mentioned this is only happening on one TV in particular, is that correct? In that case, I would make sure the TV's firmware is up-to-date, try different HDMI ports on the TV, as well as try a factory reset on the TV if the problem persists.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran

Thanks for the follow-up Jeran,   Actually I was able to fix the issue a few days after my post.  I was running a 36” HDMI extension cable from behind the 65” Samsung TV to connect the Chromecast & Google TV device.   Even though the Roku worked fine with it, that Chromecast device didn’t.  I put on a new HDMI extension cable and all was okay.

Frustratingly simple!    DundasJohnny

Hey there DundasJohnny,

No problem at all; I'm glad to hear you were able to figure out a fix! Sometimes, the simplest fix is the best one. In that case, do you have any more questions? Otherwise, I'll go ahead and lock the thread in 24 hours.

Best regards,
Jeran
