Everything I try to watch something on Netflix or Disney plus chromecast keeps turning off my TV and turning it back on, it'll do it every few minutes if I try to rewatch something. I can sit in the menus all o want but watching something won't work. It started the other day. It happened once before and then the problem just stopped, not sure why. We have an Emerson TV, Google chromecast with the little remote. I have tried resetting it with factory settings and I know it's not my router (we got a new one a few months ago).

Model just says Chromecast, Android TV OS Version 10, and it's plugged into an outlet (power bar) not the TV.

Hi, router has nothing to do with your problem. Try to fing TV CEC settings and be sure that chromecast settings are correct in case of CEC feature. Have a look at turn off time delay in your chromecast. Or try to not use CEC at all in both TV and chromecast first to be sure what could be the reason. Do your set up step, by step. One thing, check, second thing, check and so on.

Hello,
I tried changing setting on the TV for cec, playing with all of them and turned off time delay in chromecast and nothing is working. We even got a new chromecast incase that was the problem and it's not working.

What about the temperature? Is it hot in your room? Is the chromecas hot too when playing Netflix?
07-15-2022 07:26 AM
No, it never feels hot and we have a floor ac in there keeping it 18 to 20 in the summer.

Do you have another TV to test chromecast with?

Good idea, I'll try that

I tried the last suggestion and it worked fine. We tried using the Xbox on the TV and unplugging the chrome and it happened again so eventhough there may be something in the chrome settings I think the main issue is the TV.

Hiya Heather1503,
It's good that you've narrowed down the issue to the TV itself. Go ahead and see if the TV itself has any settings that may be affecting the HDMI-CEC, such as a power saving mode, or try connecting the Chromecast to different HDMI ports on the TV to see if the problem persists across outlets.
I look forward to your response! Also, thank you for your help on this thread, robus_pl!
Best regards,
Jeran

If you have configured CEC option in your TV, then if you chnge HDMI in, then the CEC function switches off the device which is connected to the HDMI which is not active at the moment.
This should not happen in normal work (for instance when watching film from VOD installed on chromecast).
The router has no influence on your chromecast turning on/off.
If you have another TV you can test your chromeast with.
Double check the CEC settings and power save settings.
Any Amplituner in use?

Thanks for the reply. I will check and see about CEC settings. Also discovered my HDMI cable between my AV Receiver and Projector was bad. I will replace and re-check.

Hi folks,
Thanks for the suggestions, robus_pl.
BlairM, how's it going? Were you able to try the suggested steps provided by robus_pl? If yes, how was it? Also, could you please confirm if the issue is isolated when using the Netflix and Disney+ app? Have you tried manually casting from your phone to your TV? You can try the additional steps below:
Thanks,
Jennifer

I'm still having issues, I was wrong the TV doesn't do it with anything else, just the chromecast. I've tried casting from my phone too and it still does it. I think the chromecast did an update or something that messed up my tv
