Chromecast not detecting remote

My chromecast is not connecting with its remote. I attempted to connect it with my phone (as a remote), and it didn't work as well. I've restarted the device a few times. Does Google have a support number I can call?

If you're happy the batteries are okay (try them in a different device), try these steps:

  1. Remove the batteries from the remote.
  2. Hold the home button on the remote down and re-insert batteries while holding the button down. 
  3. The remote should be detected on the right side of the screen.

If you'd prefer to contact support directly, go to Contact Us - Google Nest Help and follow the steps on screen.

I constantly get the same problem with these useless remotes mine can be sitting there and when you go to turn on chromecast the controller don’t work again so have to keep pairing which will normally fail the first one or times it’s happening regular now and no it’s not the batteries. There are loads of reports about issues with these remotes so Google need to figure out where the software glitch is finally and fix

I'm really sorry to hear that your Voice Remote is acting up. Go ahead and give these steps a try to see if the help at all:

  1. Check for pending remote software updates. Go to Settings Remotes and Accessories Remote update Continue. The remote might briefly disconnect during the software update.
  2. Forget the Chromecast Voice Remote. Go to  Settings Remotes and Accessories Chromecast Remote Forget.
  3. Pair the remote. Ggo to  Settings Remotes and Accessories Pair remote or accessory, then follow the instructions on the TV.
    Note: If applicable, you can also press the button on the Chromecast device for one second to start to pair.
  4. Remove, then replace the batteries in the Chromecast Voice Remote.
  5. If the steps above don't work, perform a factory reset.

This is what most of us do but it will keep happening sometimes multiple times a day that’s with brand new batteries also the system says batteries are strong there is a fundamental issue with this remotes there needs to be a new software update that works or replace this rubbish remotes as I have had my device for less then three months and now stuck with this piece of rubbish. Your software in general for Google tv chromecast is not good it’s glitchy and can run slow there is a too longer gap in software updates for these devices it’s very frustrating
