Chromecast not finding remote

Hi,

 

I removed the batteries, replaced them and now the remote is dead. I could pair my phone.

 

The middle light at the bottom of the remote initially came on, I didn't know what it was and the remote didn't work so I took the batteries out again. When I reinserted them the remote seemed dead. I've read the forums and sites with help, they mostly say hold home and back. I've done this and it's still dead. I've reset the device, I've unplugged both device and TV. Still dead. Now my phone won't pair to the reset chromecast device.

I can't get through to support, when I fill in to call me back it shows an error. I click message them, error.

Please help.

I am having exactly the same issue. Remote control stopped working couple hours ago on my Google TV. Yellow blinking light at the bottom constantly blinking while I try to use it. Remote not functioning at all. Reset, re pairing didn't work. Chromecast can see a remote but unable to connect. Maybe there some issues with their hardware.

We managed to reset it by holding the remote against the chromecast with the back and home buttons but this morning it's faulty again. It looks like there was a firmware update, when we chose update in the settings it said update failed now it's dead again. I reckon it could be a firmware issue. Apparently the remote updates automatically so perhaps I removed the battery during an update, how on earth are we supposed to know when it's updating. Whatever you do don't reset the actual chromecast or you may struggle to get it going again. Right now we're using a PlayStation remote so we have something until we can figure out what's going on or how to factory reset the remote.

Thank you for the advice. I tried home and back before. Didn't helped. So I am using virtual remote from my Pixel. Well, good luck to us. Or $19.99 we'll have to pay for the new remote from Google Store.

I was keeping searching for the solution over the web and I found one article which actually helped. I was able to fix my remote. Thanks God! Yes, as I see it was an update which failed most likely. I was using virtual remote. Opened settings on TV screen. Went to remote and accessories tab. Pressed back and home buttons and wait for Chromecast to find a remote. After finding a remote I was updating the firmware on the remote. It took like 1  minutes to update and now it fully functional. Yellow light blinked twice and disappeared. Please try this. Still no luck on my side. Hoping to have it replaced under warranty as it's only about two months old.

Thanks SergioT and Jennifer. Problem isn't sorted out after trying everything. We emailed the company we purchased from on Sunday but they haven't responded yet, the remote is two months old.
