Chromecast not working with my new router.

I have had a D link router for a few years, ever since I bought my Vizio TV and there have never been issues with casting. The Vizio TV has a Chromecast built in. However last week after upgrading to a new router the tv is showing as connected to the new wifi but the Vizio smart cast app and casting in general are not working. The cast symbol is not even showing in apps. I re connected my older router and it works again when using that router wifi with the TV. How do I make casting work on the new router?

Try these steps:

  1. Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both turned ON on your phone or tablet.

  2. Reboot your router. Most routers just require that you unplug the power source and then plug it back in to reboot.

  3. Reboot your TV by removing the power cable, then reconnect it.

  4. Make sure you're using the latest version of the app, by checking your app store for any updates.

  5. Restart the app.
  • Android: Swipe up from the bottom, hold, then let go. Swipe up on the app.
  • iPhone/iPad: Swipe up from the bottom, hold, then let go. Swipe up on the app. On older devices with a home button, double-click the Home button, then swipe up on the app.
  • Turn Wi-Fi off and on again on your phone or tablet.
  • Reopen the app.

If none of the steps above help, factory reset your Chromecast and then retry setup. You may also want to try setup using a different phone or tablet, just to test, if you have one.

Thank you for your suggestions. A complete reset of the router did the trick and it is working fine now.
