Chromecast remote flashes only when the battery is inserted

Hi, my remote used to be working well but died recently. It flashed twice when the battery was inserted but no flashing anymore after that, no matter which button I pressed. I’ve tried hold Home button when inserted the battery to reset it but didn’t work, still flashed twice only and then nothing, is my remote physically died?

Hi @Yad,

It looks like you tried to factory reset the device as described here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/10070837 

Could you try if you can get the remote in pair mode: 

Step 1: Press the button on the back of the Chromecast, and it will open up the pairing mode on the device, which will notify you via your TV screen.

Step 2: Next, on the remote, press and hold the Back + Home buttons simultaneously, not letting go until you see the LED light at the bottom of the remote pulsating.

If this does not work, you could still try to factory reset your Google TV Chromecast to see if that helps.  🙂

worked. Thanks. Lot use of remote today and paired it according to your instructions. If I could only get the sound and mute buttons to work!

Muttering to myself. All is in order. All buttons working. At first I thought the remote had died but I followed the instructions by RXshorty and rebooted my tv after checking all connections. At first I thought it was the batteries and changed them as a first step which I recommend doing.

I did get the info I needed to get my Chromecast running after the upgrade seemed to be the root of my problem.

I’m not sure if you saw I mentioned in the ticket that the Home button on my remote could be dead, I reset the Google tv because the steps you purposed didn’t work for me so I took your advice, now I am not able to use it completely because it stuck on remote pairing screen, what should I do now? Throw it away?

Hi @Yad 

Sorry to hear you are having still having issues. Could you try remove batteries and hold down home button while installing batteries from your remote and see if that helps?

I've tried that tons of times already because I wanted to confirm that the home button is not working anymore regardless hardware issue or software, the light on the remote just blinked twice and then nothing else.

My Google tv is not able to be used completely by taking the suggestion from the expert RXShorty, who should be in charge of this situation?
