Chromecast remote problem

I have the Chromecast that was sent to me when Google Fiber TV quit providing TV.  I also have YouTube TV for my streaming service.  The remote works fine when I press the black Google Assistant button to request any channel on my YouTubeTV service EXCEPT when NBC is requested.  Nearly every time, when I say "NBC" on the screen it displays "NBC" for a half a second and then changes to "nbcc" and it goes to that which is some sort of religious website-NOT A CHANNEL ON YouTubeTV.  It only does this for NBC-all other channel requests work fine.  I can get it to work better if  I say "NBC dot".  It does this on all 3 of my Chromecast units.  Has anyone else had this problem, if so is there a fix?

Hey there Ldarms44,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that assistant issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out! What I would recommend you do in this situation is to teach Google Assistant to recognize your voice, you can find how to do that in the article I linked. Give that a try, then let me know if it's still having issues.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Dear Jeran,

Thank you for your reply to my Chromcast Google Assistant.  Google Assistant recognizes my voice fine.  When I say “NBC” into Google Assistant “NBC” appears on the TV screen for a quarter to a half second and that changes to “nbcc”.  This thing is crazy, “NBC” is what I want why does it change to “nbcc”?  This is the only channel where this happens.  Now it doesn’t do this every time but it does it much more times than not do it.  I have 3 Google Assistant remotes and it happens on all 3.  My wife has the same problem.  I can call out “NBC”, “NBC”, “NBC”, “NBC”, and maybe eventually it will work, or I go to Live and select the channel from the Guide.  It wouldn’t be so bad except NBC is the channel we watch most.  I have found that if I say “NBC dot” it works better.  You didn’t want an easy problem t o work on, did you.  Thanks for your time and consideration.

Of course!

I tried it on my own Chromecast Voice Remote and I couldn't seem to recreate the issue on my end. Sometimes, it would hear "NPC" or "NVC", but most of the time it would hear "NBC". I could never get it to hear or populate "NBCC"! In this particular case, I would first make sure that you Chromecast with Google TV's firmware is up-to-date, then submit feedback via Google TV if the issue is still occurring, that way our engineering team can see if there is anything wrong.

Best regards,

Jeran

The thing that gets me is that the Google Assistant definitely hears "NBC" because it displays "NBC" on the screen-but then an instant later it changes to "nbcc" in lower case.  I can't believe I am the only one that has this problem.  If I remember to say "NBCdot" that pretty much works most of the time.  When I do that "NBC." appears on the screen and it goes to the NBC channel.

That is really strange, for some reason, I am unable to re-create the issue on my own device. Like I mentioned, I'd submit feedback to Google, as it may be some assumption that the Google Assistant is trying to make, unsuccessfully of course.

Best regards,

Jeran

Of course, I'm sorry we couldn't really come up with a solution. I know Google is always trying to optimize the Assistant, so hopefully they resolve this issue soon! For now, I'll go ahead and lock up the thread. If you run into any more issues in the future, feel free to make a new thread.

Best regards,
