Chromecast’s Remote has stopped working and overheats quickly

Hi, my Chromecast’s Remote has stopped working and overheats quickly. No spills, no indicator lights no matter what I pressed. The whole unit is useless since I can not operate google tv with my remote. Also, the remote got super hot and almost burned my fingers when I pulled them out to cool down. I search in the forum and it seems to be an issue for multiple users. Can I get a replacement for this? Thank you.

Thanks for posting and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast Voice Remote. 

 

Have you tried replacing the batteries in your Chromecast Voice Remote? If you haven't yet, please try that and make sure you'll replace all batteries at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries and do not use lithium-ion or any other batteries with rated voltage above 1.5 V. Also, do a factory reset on your Voice Remote and Chromecast device, then observe the behavior.

Yes, I tried two different brands of batteries—the same problem. 

If you haven't yet, please try that and make sure you'll replace all batteries at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries and do not use lithium-ion or any other batteries with rated voltage above 1.5 V.

I did not. 

Also, do a factory reset on your Voice Remote and Chromecast device, then observe the behavior.

I can not do this, because

1. Remote does not work, so I press and hold home and back button, no response..

2. Remote does not work, so I can not operate the chromecast either.

Hi, I tried several times to submit the form and I keep getting error messages like this:

"Refresh this page and try again. Sorry, there was a problem with the form."

I tried different web browsers, on my PC and phone, all the same error message. I tried to reply by email and attached the screen shot, but it said
