Chromecast's broken volume issue

So for whatever reason, my Chromecast needs to randomly restart every day and disconnect me from the show I'm watching. Idk what needs to be updated every single day, but whatever.

As of a few days ago, whenever it restarts it comes back on with a MUCH louder volume... Normally I would not care. But for the last decade of my life I have been fighting this volume battle, and I'm not joking.

If I thought I was unsure about the volume conspiracy before, I'm darn sure now. My Chromecast REFUSES to play at the maximum volume... whenever I cast from YouTube, (LITERALLY the most glitchy program i have ever seen in my life, but that's another story) the volume can go so loud it's deafening. But sometimes when I'm streaming a movie or TV show, with all the volume sliders set to 100%, I can barely hear the sound.

After decades of fighting this nonsensical battle for volume, this random Chromecast restart event changed that all. What is in this daily update that temporarily changes the maximum decibel output from my TV? Am I being manipulated into buying new products? There is no logical reason I can think of why "100%" volume NEVER actually means "100%"?

Same thing today. Chromecast is restarting right now as I speak. Why am I being tormented this way?

Yup, now it's 10000x louder. What the actual f*??? I'm now waiting this restart every day so I can hear my programs again... wtf is happening??? THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi socksy420,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast device. Let's sort this out.

What type of Chromecast device do you have? How far is it from the Wi-Fi router? Is this only happening when watching a video or even when it's in idle mode?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Reboot your Chromecast, Wi-Fi router, and mobile phone.
  2. Try to plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV.
  3. Plug in the Chromecast into a different TV screen, if possible.
  4. Factory reset your Chromecast.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer
