Hi! I have totally the same problem as in thread from 03-09-2022 05:54 AM, "Chromecast's cast file is missing". It says:
"In Google Chrome, when I click Cast, then sources, I only see Cast Tab and Cast Desktop. I do not see an option to Cast File like I used to. How to fix this?"
Is there a solution for this problem? How can I stream movies, which is not mp4, with subtitles?
Have you looked at using third party software, such as VLC Media Player, instead?
Bear in mind the subtitles will need to be in closed captions format. Text format subtitles, like SRT, cannot be casted, because they are not a video or an audio format.
No problem at all! Sometimes VLC can require some tweaking to play and cast video optimally. For that, I'd recommend that you check out their Support and Help Center. In the meantime, if you want to cast a file from Chrome, here is how to do so:
This, however, will not play with subtitles. You would need to use a separate media player like David suggested, such as VLC Media Player, Plex, Emby, etc.
Let me know if you had any other questions or concerns, I'd be happy to help where I can.
