Chromecast stopped working on Samsung Smart TV

After having great success with casting to our samsung smart tv, the device was not longer detected when connected to the hdmi port. I tried the second port and no success. I checked google home and received the message that the device was not detected. I unplugged the dongle for one minute, still not detected. Ran Samsung troubleshooting device connection to no avail. Unplugged tv and waited for 1 minute, didn't work. Are there any other steps I am missing before returning the device? Thank you.

First, check the cable USB cable and the power adaptor condition to ensure they are functioning in optimum parameters.

If you can't do that, borrow a USB cable and a power adaptor, if possible, with the same specifications, then try again.

Lastly, hard reset the Chromecast 3rd generation.
