Chromecast turning off repeatedly

We have a new Chromecast (less than six months old) that restarts itself, most often while in the Prime or HBO app. Maybe 15 minutes after its been on, it will turn off... Then restart the Vizio tv and open back up to where it was before. Then do it again a minute or two later. After four of five times, it usually stops and then works fine the rest of the night. It's plugged into the wall, so it's not being powered by the tv.

Any ideas?

• What color is the LED light on the Chromecast when this happens?
• Is the Chromecast's firmware up-to-date?
• Is the device hot when this happens?
• What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?
