Please help to set up my Chromecast device.

Chromecast device displays pictures on screen with correct time showing when chromecast is connected.

Google home will not connect to it.  Galaxy Tab A (2017) blue tooth cannot find it

Steady white light showing on device. No small button on side of device

The Home connection just goes around in circles.

Hey there crypton37,

Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! I'd be happy to help you set up your Chromecast. Just to double-check, what kind of Chromecast do you have? I'll be able to provide specific steps depending on which model you own. For now, go ahead and check out this article on the Chromecast requirements.  I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hey there crypton37,

No problem at all! Go ahead and give these steps a try and see if they allow you to connect:

  • To start screen casting, Power Saving Mode must be turned off.
    • Power Saving Mode can limit the processing power of Android devices which might affect the performance of the Cast screen feature.
  • You must allow Google Cast to use their network information.

Important: For devices with Android 11 or 12

When Use network information is off in their Android settings, Google Nest and Home speakers or displays (and Chromecast) might not appear on the list of available Cast devices.

To discover Cast-enabled devices, open your mobile device's Settings and then enable Use network information On and then Continue.

Important: The Microphone permission in the Google Play Services app needs to be turned on to successfully use the Cast screen or audio feature with Chromecast. If you don't have this permission turned on, the Cast screen session immediately disconnects after it attempts to connect.

To turn on Microphone permissions:

  1. On the Android device, tap Settings .
  2. Scroll down and tap Apps and then Google Play Services and then Permissions.
  3. Look for Microphone and slide the slider on On.

I know this is an information overload, but I hope this helps!

Jeran

Thanks for the advice Jeran,

I found the button on the side of the device with a flashight and reset to factory settings.

The Google Home app on the tablet then was able to connect so the tablet could cast to the TV.

It now works just fine.  Thank you.

Regards, Terry
