Chromecast with Google TV Live Tab Suddenly Gone

Hello,

Today the live tab is suddenly missing. I was signed out of Pluto TV for some reason, but I've signed back in on the correct account and it is still not showing the Live tab at all. I've rebooted several times and tried to see if there was an update and still nothing.

This recently happened to me also on 1 of my 4 Chromecast devices. Have not been able to find a resolution.

By chance are you now using a VPN and you weren't before this started?  That can cause this to happen and the only solution seems to be to set the Chromecast device as an exception or not use the VPN altogether.

The fact that you were signed out of Pluto Tv makes me think this might be it which is why I had to ask.

The other thing is as simple as making sure you're signed into the correct Google account that everything is linked to.  That can cause the Live tab to disappear as well.

No VPN. Pluto is signed in to the same account as the Google. However, that should not matter. My other Chromecast still shows the live tab, same Google account and not even signed in to Pluto.

Other thought is the update to Android 12.  Any chance the Chromecast got that update recently?

You could try signing out of the Chromecast entirely and that might have some effect on it.  Just a few suggestions.  Rebooting doesn't do that as far as I'm aware.

It mysteriously just reappeared yesterday. I didn't do anything other than maybe I switched back and forth between my 2 accounts a few times while it was missing.

Mine is the same I have Pluto tv installed etc and nothing I don’t know who’s taking charge of Google TV chromecast but there seems to be very little answers to issues customer services seem to have no clue either. I moved over from Amazon as wanted to upgrade from my old fire stick and chose Google because it looked like it was a great offering and I have a Google home hub so wanted to control tv through that  but seems to of been a lot of clever marketing as a uk customer it is very much behind Amazon and Roku basic uk tv apps still missing and no interest in working with these companies to get this sorted and no real uk support service.

Hey folks,

Thanks for lending a hand, Aiden1.

buddha673, thanks for keeping us in the loop and happy to hear that this has been sorted out. Give us a shout if something comes up — you know where to find us!

sefaulkner, how's it going? Do you still need help? If you already reboot your Chromecast with Google TV, please try to plug it in on a different HDMI port on your TV. Resetting it might also help.

nfuller, I understand why you feel that way. Could you please try the suggested steps I've provided by sefaulkner and let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer

I can’t find what you

hi cant find what you suggested I have already factory reset logged in logged out this is my second device as first one I was told was faulty something needs to be done around Google chromecast tv in the UK I get told by the non uk customer service line that this is the place for us to highlight these issues and issues of basic uk tv apps like bbc iplayer and all4 still not being available as development team monitor and pick up issues yet not seen this happen it’s more than frustrating and with the big new software update that’s just been announced for uk Roku customers you are even further falling behind think as there is no uk support or interest in improving ongoing issues as most uk reviews since the Google chromecast tv device first launch 2 years ago have all said how poor it is in terms of missing uk apps especially all4 yet Google have not made any steps forward or even shown interest to. I think I am going to take this device back and insist I exchange or a Amazon Fire tv stick and go back to Amazon or even Roku

Hello nfuller,

The other troubleshooting steps shared are rebooting the device and plugging it in on a different HDMI port on the TV.

Also, for your other concerns, It would be best if you send feedback via Google TV to let the Google Engineering team know about this. Here's how

Thanks,

Jennifer
