Chromecast with Google TV Virtual Remote not Working in the Google Home App or the Google TV App

Neither the Google Home App nor the Google TV detects my Chromecast with Google TV for use with the virtual remote. 

I'm connected to the same network. I've tried a factory reset once already but it doesn't work.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a known resolution to it?

I factory reset the chromecast and android TV devices and reconnected them to the home network. Now everything seems to work now.

Quick question: what's the make and model of the phone you're using? Please reinstall the Google Home app and reboot your phone and Chromecast with Google TV. After that, try pairing your virtual remote again using the Google Home app or the Google TV app. If you're using an Android phone, you may also pair it from your Android device.
