Chromecast with Google TV battery only last 4 or so days before requiring replacement

I have had this device for several months and the remote dies within a few days from installing new batteries.   I have used 2-3 different types of batteries, but obviously it is not a battery issue.   My remote is dying quickly for an unknown reason.   Remote works great when batteries are not dead, and i do not notice any lights or odd activity with remote.   Finally, remote has been updated to the latest version.   I have an nvidia shields that I've had for several years and have only had to replace the batteries at most 2 times in that amount of time.   What am i missing, or is there a known resolution for this issue?

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! I'm really sorry that you are running into this power issue. We have been getting more reports of the Chromecast Voice Remote having this problem. While most users don't seem to have any issue, some, like yourself, report it dying within a few days. Google can look into replacing the Chromecast Voice Remote if you are having this issue, and the easiest way is to contact Google Support via phone.

Anyone?       I can't be the only one on here with this issue.    Reddit had many instances of it, but none with an actual fix that works for me.
