Chromecast with Google TV keeps losing or breaking its CEC connection.

After a while of uptime it seems to lose or break its CEC connection. I cant get my phone or google home device to voice command turn the tv on or off.

A reboot of the chromecast fixes it but this happens often enough its annoying.
First it would be nice if you guys fixed the issue so this didn't happen.  But in the meantime it would be nice if there was a way to tell the CCwGTV to reboot itself at a specific time every day/week.

Extended uptime seems to cause it issues.

So outside of figuring out and fixing your guys CEC issue maybe can add this feature request to add timed auto reboots.

Hi El_Cubano,

Thanks for reaching out. Please plug in the Chromecast with Google TV into a different HDMI port on your TV. Also, try to plug it in on a different TV screen if one is available and make sure your TV's firmware is updated by checking the TV user manual. You may contact your TV manufacturer to verify. For additional steps, you can also check this support website article.

For the auto reboot feature, you may send feedback about this using the Google Home app. Here's how.

Best,

Jennifer

There is something wrong with the chromecast with google tv.  I previously had a standard chromecast and it NEVER had this issue.

Just now I told my google home to turn off the TV and it took 30 seconds to process the command.  Other times when fighting to get it to work it turns on and off the tv processing commands that are seemingly backlogged.  There is some inefficiency in receiving the CEC commands from google home devices.

When I tell the "TV on" "TV off" commands to my pixel 7 the response is almost instant and always works.

Hello El_Cubano,

Thanks for getting back to us. Could you try to toggle off/on the CEC on your TV and reboot your Google Home device and Chromecast with Google TV?

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hey there,

It's me again. I want to make sure you're all good — how did the steps go?

Regards,

Jennifer

Well your instructions were a waste. I already said rebooting the Chromecast fixes the issue...but I shouldn't have to do that every couple days.

There is some kind of memory leak or something that causes it either to lose its CEC connection or he he REALLY delayed in responding to Google home command's

I did a test and told my Google home to turn om the tv and it took a full minute to process the request.

Hi El_Cubano,

I'm sorry for the late response. Could you try to factory reset your Chromecast? You may also try to reboot your Wi-Fi router and check if the same issue will persist.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi SweetchillyGirl,

It looks like your concern is different from the original poster. I'd suggest you create your own thread to avoid causing any confusion on the troubleshooting part. Also, once you create a new thread, please provide as many details as you can so we can further assist you.

In the meantime, you may check this support website article to see more information regarding expanding your Chromecast's storage. You can also try to use a different drive or hub to isolate the issue.

Thanks,

Jennifer
