Chromecast with google tv cannot be found on google home app.

I got a new Chromecast with Google TV and am trying to install it.

I plugged it in with the supplied cable and power plug and plugged it into my TV.   I set it up on the wi-fi, it added all the apps I wanted (netflix etc), and it was running fine.  I even watched a Netflix 1hr show.  Added it to my Google Home app on android phone.

Next day, not sure what the reason for this but I reset the Chromecast.   While it was rebooting, I deleted it from the android Home app. too.   Once the Chromecast booted, asked all it's questions and added the apps I wanted I was now to the home screen.   Now it was time to add it to the android app.    But when I click the plus to add a new device it won't find it.  It even comes back with a choice of items to search and I pick the chromecast with Google TV and off it goes but nothing!.

I restarted the phone and the google home app, I've checked the router and I can see the chromecast is on the network (and it should be since I can watch programs), and the router even shows it's IP address and I can ping it from my laptop.   I cannot cast to it from my laptop's google chrome browser though, and I still can't add it to the Home app on the phone.

I would like the cast to work.

Adding to google home is it necessary to do this.?

Do you have any updates on this issue?  I've installed 3 of these, and am having the same issue on the last one installed.

Well after much time has elapsed, I just tried casting from laptop's Google Chrome browser and wow, chromecast was there.  It works too obviously.
I looked at the Home app on android and it's in my list of devices in the Living Room.

So all seems to be working.
This has nothing to do with the issue but the 'ambient mode' on the home app, when I pick an album of photos in "Google Photos', the first image displays, but then it changes to it's own images.  It only shows 5 (used to do more IIRC).  Oh well, this is a minor issue since I don't really use it.  It's the cast I want, and the cast I got.

So fixed. here at least.    PS.  I leave the chromescast powered on and of course on the internet so it gets updates, a suggesting I read someplace.

I don't have any other problems except the ambient mode thing that was discussed.  I've looked at links and I'll need time to try out some of the ideas.
