Chromecast won't connect and keeps freezing

I have issues casting from both chrome and apps - I've tried rebooting and factory resets multiple times. When it does actually connect the video will play and then freeze for long periods of time.

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. I'd love to dig deeper into this.

 

A few questions — is the casting device's power saving mode turned on? How close are the devices to each other? Are there other apps that actively run on the device? When did the problem start?

 

Give these steps a try:

 

  1. Disconnect from Chromecast, then recast.
  2. On the casting device, toggle Wi-Fi off and then on.
  3. Close any resource intensive apps that are open.
  4. Turn off power saving mode.
  5. Check the proximity of the devices.
  6. Confirm that the casting device meets the minimum system requirements to support casting. Check here: Minimum system requirements to cast from Chrome and Mobile devices operating system (OS) requirements.
  7. Make sure the Google Chrome browser, device OS, and Chromecast software are updated.
