Chromecast won't connect to wifi at last step

I have Chromecast set up on my Samsung smart TV. I've recently changed my wifi router. Using either an Android phone or tablet, I can progress all the way through the steps as per the instructions for reconnecting to a new wifi router, except the last step! After I enter the correct password for the wifi router (double & triple checked!) and click "Next", the app presents me with an error message "Unable to communicate with Chromecast", while in the background it is still searching for the router. This is despite locating the Chromecast device, confirming its ID on the TV screen and communicating with it during the rest of the set up process! What am I doing wrong??

If you have a new Wi-Fi router then you would need to factory reset the Chromecast before starting the setup and connection process.
