Chromecast wont change to new wifi in new house

Moved house. Chromecast used at old house will not connect to new wifi. Device will not Factory Reset.  Instructions mention that device must be on old wifi to do so.

Hey there Shona,

I am sorry about the late response, thank you for your patience! Were you able to fix that Wi-Fi issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, since I know troubleshooting Chromecast issues can be a headache.  Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • What color is the LED light on the Chromecast?
  • Are you able to forget the network from the Google Home app?
  • Are you connecting that Chromecast to a 2.4GHz band, or a 5GHz band?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

Thank you very much for your reply Jeran. Eventually I was able to take the chromecast back to the house where was it originally enabled, and I was able to reset it in that house on that Wi-Fi system and that cleared it. So when I took it to the new house I was able to set it up there. Luckily they hadn't turned the internet off on the old house yet.
