I have a 2nd generation Chromecast. it has always cast from my laptop to my TV. I have just purchased a new laptop. I seem unable to connect laptop to Chromecast. i have connected my phone, but that is no help. The photos I wish to cast are on my laptop, not my phone. What can I do?

Assuming the new laptop is on the same network then my first guess would be a firewall preventing it from working.
Take a look at https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/3249268?hl=en#zippy=%2Cstep-follow-chrome-troubleshooti... on step 5 they cover firewalls. And the steps after that cover specific OS versions and what to do.
