Closed captioning always on Disney+

I am having an issue when casting a movie or show from my iPhones Disney+ app to my TV via chromecast. It is defaulting to closed captions /subtitles every time a movie or show starts. I have to then take off subtitles in the Disney+ app on my iPhone.   If I change the movie during the same connected session it will still re-default to subtitles/closed caption on. It is not an issue that is caused by Disney+. Please help!

Thanks for reaching out. Let's sort this out.

 

A few questions: what type of Chromecast device do you have? Is this only happening with Disney+ or across all apps? Have you checked if the same issue persists when watching a video directly from the Disney+ app on your phone?

 

Try these:

 

  1. Clear the cache and data on the Disney+ app.
  2. Reinstall the Disney+ app.
  3. Try to cast from other supported apps.
  4. Reboot your Chromecast and mobile phone.
  5. Reset your Chromecast.

Hi Jennifer,

 

I have tried each of the steps from your initial response save for clearing cache from the Disney+ app as that is not an option. This is the only app that is giving me an issue with chrome cast as I have successfully streamed prime video, paramount plus and Netflix without the closed captions automatically being displayed.  I have one tab that is a smart to and when I use the tub remote to play the Disney+ app on the tv it does not give me the issue. Somehow either disney plus app on my phone or chromecast is defaulting the closed captions to display every time and I’m at a loss
