Connecting chrome cast via iPhone personal hotspot

I have limited wifi at a caravan park and I’m trying to connect chromecast by using my iPhones personal hotspot.
Is this possible?

Yes. Although unsupported by Google, you can try to use a phone or tablet as a Wifi hotspot. However, this will then use your mobile data plan, which could be expensive for you depending on the data plan you have with your carrier. Note you will need 2 devices to set this up.

    1. Turn on the Wifi hotspot feature on a phone or tablet. If you're not sure how to do this, refer to the manufacturer's support website.
    2. Connect a second phone or tablet to that Wifi hotspot.
    3. You can then use that second phone or tablet to setup your device and connect it to the Wifi hotspot on the first phone or tablet.

Hi Davidking (or anyone else that may be able to assist),

I have the same problem as Elle1952 and have tried your workaround, however when I go through the setup process there doesn’t seem to be any way to get the Chromecast to recognise a mobile hotspot as the only options that come up are wifi networks, I have tried this both using the Google Home app on my iPhone and just using the remote to setup directly through the Chromecast. Am I doing something wrong, actually I have no doubt I am doing something wrong. My hope is you can point it out for me. Thanks in advance, Graham

When the Wifi hotspot feature is turned on on your phone, can you see that Wifi network on the second phone? If another phone/tablet/laptop can't see the Wifi hotspot, your Chromecast won't be able to either.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Yes my iPad can see the iPhone hotspot and connect to it.

Okay, so there's no reason your Chromecast shouldn't be able to. Try resetting your Chromecast, then retry setup as I described.
