Should I connect my Chromecast with Google TV to my TV or to my surround sound system? Does it really matter???

It matters in how you will end up using it. If you want picture every time you use it but dont always want surround TV first. If you always want surround, reciever first.

Yes, it does matter!
Your Chromecast device is capable of Ultra HD resolution. If your AV receiver is a bit older or its HDMI version is not updated, you may have problems sending Ultra HD video signal to your TV.
Furthermore, it is necessary to know, between the TV and AV receiver, which one is capable of decoding Dolby Digital Plus, if you are using streaming services and want to enjoy surround sound.

It seems that, in your case, the best option is to connect the Chromecast device to the AV receiver, because it is capable of Dolby Digital Plus decoding.
Your LG TV model seems to not have support neither for Dolby Vision or Dolby Digital Plus decoding.
