Connectivity problem with sounder with Chromecast Built-in

MarkR1

I have recently bought a Panasonic SC-HTB510 sound-bar with Chromecast Built-in. This should allow me to stream music from my iPhone, as well as working with my TV on an HDMI connection.

The instructions tell me to connect it using the Google Home app but when I try to do so, the app does not detect the device. I have tried using the + "Add a device" steps but again, nothing is detected.

I have tried the usual steps of turning off and on virtually everything (including my router, my BT Whole-Home wi-fi extender discs, the sounder and the iphone) but it still doesn't work.

When I look on my iPhone at wi-fi networks I only see my home network listed (and can't see a "Chromecast XXX" network as suggested in the help pages).

Can anyone help please?

Did some googling , found the instructions here . https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1684348/Panasonic-Sc-Htb510.html?page=16

You need to get it setup on wifi first using the method on linked manual.  Is the net light active, blinking ?  Have you enabled Bluetooth on both the soundbar and your phone? And are you using a 2.4 GHz network ?  Try to not use 5ghz as there may be a compatibility issue.

You should allow the soundbar enough time to appear in the Google Home list of available devices for setup.

Sometimes, it is a good idea to actually disable the Bluetooth when setting up a wireless connection, because Bluetooth operates on 2.4 GHz bandwidth and can cause interferences.

If your soundbar has Chromecast built-in, you need Google Home application to be be able to add it as a cast device.

When you want to cast music to your soundbar, it should appear with its own device name,

You just have to ensure that your soundbar is connected to the same WiFi network bandwidth as your phone.

As above , soundbars with Chromecast built in need to first be setup using the soundbar app( I have a Vizio and had to use their smartcast app), once it's setup and on wifi, you would add it in the Google home app.

Ashepherdon. Thanks for your reply. There is no sound-bar app for this device. Both the manual and the Panasonic helpdesk say that you set it up using Google Home only.

djtetei, Thanks for the response. I have followed the instructions that you attached to your message. The problem is that I do not see the sounder device, either on Google Home or on the list of Wi-fi networks on my phone.

Yes, thats the same manual that came with the sound-bar.

The NET light is blinking and I have enabled bluetooth on both the sounder and the phone (and can get the sounder to play via Bluetooth but not via wi-fi).

I've tried switching off the 5GHz network so only the 2.4GHz network is available both devices - sadly no change!
