How do I get my Chromecast with Google tv to never use Spotify?
It will often play a song instead of a show and I just want that to stop.
I do still want to be able to use Spotify with my Google home speakers though. Just never on the tv.

Let's take it a step further.. just how exactly are you asking music to play? Are you pressing the assistant button on the CCwGTV remote; if so, don't do that, that's the most obvious solution. The other obvious options might be to uninstall Spotify from the TV if it's installed as an app or how about logging out of Spotify on the TV. I have CCwGTV and a mini in my den and never has my TV started playing music from my LG TV with the CCwGTV attached to it unless it's a music video.
We also have no idea about your setup. Does your TV have Assistant built-in somehow? What are your settings in the Home app? What is your default device set for playing music? Which room?

Thanks for trying but that does not solve my issue.
I am not trying to have music play on a different device, I am trying to have my CCwGTV not attempt to play music at all, and only play videos.

Hey dcushnie,
Like what GothamNY pointed out, you can set another speaker or a device as a preferred device so if you do ask the assistant to play music from Spotify, it will prioritize another device. However, there really isn't a way of preventing the Chromecast from playing music if you are casting music to the device.

So you are saying there is no way to get rid of Spotify on my Chromecast with Google tv?
