I just switched to Verizon 5G Home Internet and now my 2nd Generation Chromecast doesn’t work. I read some users downgraded their router channel to make it work, but I only have one band. Does anyone know if the newer Chromecasts work with Verizon 5G Home Internet? I’m willing to pay for an upgraded Chromecast. Or, is there a trick to get the 2nd Generation Chromecast to work?
I went through Google Support and after an hour long conversation, they just ended the chat on me with no solution or answers.

The newer Chromecasts definitely work with the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands of WiFi. I think I remember that the 1st Gen didn't work with 5GHz at all and the second generation had issues with 5GHz. All the newer Chromecast devices work great with both 2.4 and 5GHz WiFi.
Note, WiFi 5GHz is not the same as Cellular 5G.
The 5GHz in WiFi stands for the wavelength of the signal (5 gigahertz).
The 5G in cell-service stands for the generation (5th Generation).

Thanks for replying! Do you know if the newer chromecasts work with Cellular 5G? Because I assume that’s what my internet is running on now.

Hey there JFow,
If you have a router at home you're using, it's most likely a 2.4GHz or 5GHz network band. You can connect a Chromecast to a 5G Mobile Hotspot, though it is not a recommended configuration and varies from phone to phone.
I hope that helps! Let us know if you had any other questions or concerns.
Best regards,
Jeran
