Expanded storage issue.

why did you make me type in a subject three different times before I could post this?

I have a 64gb card that my Chromecast with Google TV recognizes. When I try to migrate apps over, I'm told there is not enough space on the 64gb card to move a 200MB file. Or even smaller file sizes for that matter.  You don't put enough storage in the Chromecast to make it work under normal circumstances, so we're forced to expand the way you tell us to, and then the device refuses to move because it thinks there's not enough space on a 64 gig card. Formatted the card twice using the device. Erased everything multiple times, reformatted using the device multiple times, the device sees the storage, sees there is 64gb available, yet can't move a 200MB file because there's not enough storage space. How am I supposed to fix that I have 7 apps loaded and the device tells me I don't have enough memory. 7 apps. Should not be able to do more than that? Yes I've cleared my cache, deleted apps I decided I wasn't really using, still have seven and am told that I don't have enough memory. And your device won't let me move them to the USB device it recognizes. How am I supposed to fix that?

Did you enable “Developer Settings” > “Force allow apps on external storage” ?

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help here, Tallerthanmost.

Khawkins, have you tried the step provided by Tallerthanmost? Do you still need help?

Regards,

Jennifer

I did that when it did work. Never turned it off. Thought I posted that, but apparently it didn't take. Sorry for the delay

So, yes, made sure developer settings are on

In addition to developer settings being on, did you also re-enable “Force allow apps on external storage”? Every time developer settings is turned off (which I find necessary at times for system apps to update properly), you need to re-enable this setting as well.

Other than that, formatting the micro SD / SD card with an Android phone will yield the best results. Finally (and I think you have this handled), sufficient power from a capable "power delivery" power supply (minimum 65w) and a matching cable.

I find that using the bulk app move to external storage usually doesn't work. I manually move apps from their individual app settings. Not all apps are happy when being moved (Netflix cries about not being compatible - error 14, but works fine).

I spent alot of time setting all our CCWGTV devices up for ethernet and extra storage, and this worked best for me.

Hi there,

Thanks for the additional help, Tallerthanmost.

Khawkins, thanks for trying. Please try to reboot your Chromecast and plug it in on a different HDMI port on your TV. Also, check this support website article for more information. You can also try the additional steps provided by Tallerthanmost.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hey there,

We appreciate your patience. Have you tried resetting your Chromecast with Google TV? If so, can we ask for the cast firmware version of your Chromecast? Also, please fill out this form and let us know once you're done.

Best,

Alex

Did the reset thing and lost everything. Literally everything. Not very happy at the moment. Backed up what I could, and the moment I reset the Chromecast, I can no longer access any of the files I backed up. Followed instructions, and the results are that I got nuked.
