Gen1 Chromecast not detected on google home

rahulbhat

I recently moved and my wifi network changed. I couldn't find chromcast in google home on my iPhone, so I reset it a couple of times, followed all the troubleshooting steps available on chromecast help pages but still can't find the device. I don't have another phone or tab device to connect with. Very frustrating. It used to work fine before I moved.

Hey there rahulbhat,

I'm sorry to hear that your Chromecast is having issues connecting to your Wi-Fi! I'd be pretty annoyed as well, so I'd be happy to help you out. If you haven't already, I would follow the steps listed in this article in order, just making sure you're trying to connect to a 2.4GHz network since you have a 1st Generation Chromecast. If you're still having issues, let me know what color the LED light on the Chromecast is, just to make sure it's not experiencing any errors.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

I'm Have the same issue. The LED is blinking white. I have already attempted the steps in the article posted. Google Home App can't ever locate the Chromecast Device when going through the setup.

Hi folks,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast. If the issue still persists, please manually connect to the Chromecast SSID. Here's how: Go to the phone settings > Open Wi-Fi and connect to the Chromecast SSID (Example: Chromecast1234, Living Room TV, Bedroom TV, etc.) > Go to the Google Home app and try to set it up again.

Thanks for the help here, Jeran.

Regards,

Jennifer

Hi Carls,

Thanks for getting back to us. What mobile phone are you using to set up your Chromecast? Have you downloaded the Device Utility app to set up your Chromecast? If you're using a Pixel phone, please be advised that a small number of customers using Pixel phones in the US may be unable to set up devices at this time. Try to use a different phone to set up your Chromecast. You can see this blog post to see more information about this.

Regards,

Jennifer
