Google Mini not locating Chromecast Audio

GogleWitha2ndO

My wifi went down due to someone unplugging a cable...and I've re-connected all devices to the same network I'm unable to have to have my Google Mini play music to the Chromecast Audio ( I used to be able to say "hey google, play music on Denon"  (Denon is the device name of the Chromecast Audio).  Now when I say the command it says "alright, playing music on Apple Music" instead of playing on Denon

-both the google mini and chromecast audio appear in my Google Home app

-my phone can cast music to the chromecast audio (Denon) so I know the chromecast audio is working/connecting to certain devices.

-The Chromecast audio device appears in the Google Home app (along with the Google Mini)

I've rebooted the mini and the chromecast audio and confirmed they are on the same network.

How can I restore having the Google Mini identifying the Chromecast audio?

Thank you!

Hi GogleWitha2ndO,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. I understand the feeling when your Google Home Mini doesn't play music to your Chromecast Audio. To cover all bases, please try renaming your Chromecast Audio, and see if you will still have the same issue.

If it's still the same, try doing a factory reset on your devices to refresh all the settings, and will clear your data and can't be undone. Follow the steps below to know-how:

  • Google Home Mini: On the bottom of Home Mini, press and hold the factory reset button located below the power cord. Look for a circle etched into the base. After 5 seconds, your device will begin the factory reset process. Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more, until a sound confirms that the device is resetting.
  • Chromecast Audio: While the Chromecast Audio is plugged in, hold down the button on the side of the Chromecast Audio. The LED will begin blinking orange. When the LED light turns white, release the button and the Chromecast Audio will begin the reboot sequence.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hello,

Thank you for replying. Spring Break meant more kid time but no time for responding.  I renamed the Chromecast Audio device and am once again able to  play music to the device from the Google Home Mini.  I did not need to factory reset either device.

Hey GogleWitha2ndO,

I hope you had a fun spring break with the kids. I am also glad to hear you were able to get the device to play music once again. With the issue being resolved, I will go ahead and lock the thread in 24 hours. Let me know if you have any further questions from here, as I would be happy to review.

Best regards,

Jake
