Google TV Chromecast - YouTube Playback Speed Control MISSING

When viewing YouTube videos using Google TV Chromecast it is no longer possible to use the video playback speed option. The icon for the control has disappeared, basically overnight.

What happened?

Is this temporary?

If not, I suggest there are a large number of people who want the speed control option restored.

Same issue in sony Bravia tv youtube app.I uninstalled app update but it's not worked.

For the others, please try to restart your Chromecast and uninstall and reinstall the YouTube app. Let us know how it goes.

I have updated the TV app, uninstalled YouTube updates, factory reset, on my Sony Bravia TV. But at this date (10th March), the speed control has NOT returned

As of 09 August 2022 the playback speed button is still missing. I tried everything that people described in this thread and nothing.

This must be some AB testing from UX/UI teams because

1) it is not based o platform or vendimor (Sony, jvc, toshiba, Chromecast)

2) not related to app version (some users still have the speed option)

3) not based on account (premium or not paid, same account works on different smart TV)

4) it is not a bug (multiple versions during last months)

5) not location based (multiple locations in EU, US are affected)

All above means that issue is definitely on Google side not on users side.

I guess there must be unique android device ID linked to device HW ID, and Google just randomly selected bunch of those IDs for the AB testing experiment just to compare usage data and statistics before and after. Users affected are just the unlucky ones, part of this testing. Hopefully this would end soon. Nothing we can do on our side.

Same for me. I was also trying to use it on Skillshare and Udemy platforms to learn and finish courses faster and it's so annoying that the playback speed option does not work, no matter which platform you are using. Hope they fix it soon, as it's wasting a lot of my time.

Alright, people, this obviously isn't going to happen. They removed the feature because it didn't work. Even if some of you did have a good experience that doesn't mean everyone did. At 1.5 speed and over it was a studdery mess. They obviously can't get it to work with Chromecast ultra and most TVs are less powerful than that. Try the newer Chromecast that has the remote. That will probably work.

It's there on the TV app, it's there on the mobile Android YT app. However, when you cast your phone to play on the TV app, the playback speed is gone.
