Google TV Chromecast not working with Vemont USB-C Hub.

I connected my Google TV ChromeCast to the Vemont USB-C Hub. But the chromecast just keeps restarting and does not boot up. It works fine when I connect without the USB-C Hub. Any tips on how to troubleshoot this ? My Google TV is connected via HDMI to the Samsung UHD Smart TV.

Hi Wayner1, just wanted to let you know that I replaced the Hub with the Anker one and it's all working now. The hub was the issue.. 😊 I got extra storage, power on chromecast and installed more apps. Thank you for the help.

Are you using the original chromecast tv power block? The original only puts out 7.5 watts. From what I have read you need 25-35 minimum. The hub I am using would not boot properly until I added a higher watt block. The more devices you add to the hub the more watts you will need.

Aha !! I am using the original power block. I will go ahead and get a higher watt one and try. Thank you Wayner1.

Hi Wayner1.. I used the higher wattage power block. But chrome cast keeps restarting even then. Not able to boot up successfully. What am I missing.

I don't know what specs your hub has? Does it have a power delivery port? Not all hubs do that. Do you know the model number?

Yes. It does have a charging port. This is the specs.

That should work, when I upgraded my power block it fixed mine. I'll have a look at some of the trouble shooting stuff I found and see if I can find a solution.

Did you try with just the hub and nothing else attached? No drive or ethernet connected? Perhaps it's one of your devices that it's struggling with.

Yep.. I tried with just the hub. I removed the USB drive and ethernet cable. Just plain hub connected to chromecast.

Thank you for checking.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. Have you enabled developer options? Might be worth a try.

To enable the Developer options on the Chromecast with Google TV. Go to Settings > System > About and tap on Android TV OS build 7 times to turn on developer options. Once it’s enabled, we can proceed with the setup.

Use a Drive as Device Storage

Go to Settings > System > Developer options,

Scroll down and look for Force allow apps on external. Enable the feature.

Yes.. I did enable developer option too. I did that as the first step.

I have the Anker 725 charger (65W). Model number A2325.

I'm stumped, mabe there is a problem with the hub. I'll let you know if I find anything else to help you. As a last resort maybe a factory reset?

Sigh.. Yeah.. I am trying that.. Will keep you posted.. Thanks for the help again..

I tried that too.. Still no luck. I will try to change the hub. Maybe it's not able to power up the chromecast.
