Google TV Remote stuck on v22.2

I just purchased a Chromecast with Google TV (4k). I also purchased a replacement remote for Google TV (for my wife to use).

One of the remotes will not update firmware beyond v22.2.

it indicated that an update is available. When I select update it appears to go OK but the version does not update.

Doing the update appears to disconnect one of the remotes although it reconnects a few minutes later.

I have tried all the forgets, resets, battery changes and cannot get the remotes to be stable or correctly updated to v26.5 (at least one of them).

Both remotes say they are model G9N9N.

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Have you checked if you already have the latest version? You can also try to factory reset the remote, and/or try a factory reset and set everything up from scratch. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hello everyone,

Just one final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, we'd be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let us know.

Best,

I still have the problem of being unable to upgrade firmware. The remote periodically stops working. If I remove the battery and reinstall it, it works again. I’m going to buy a new remote since it seems that nobody has any idea what the problem is or why it happens.

Hi londonaz2003,

Thanks for responding. Could you tell us when and where did you purchase your Google TV so we can check your warranty options?
