Google TV remote power botton

My Google TV remote power button no longer controls the power of the Samsung TV. The volume button still controls the volume on the Samsung Soundbar. I have tried to unpair the remote and re-pair, factory reset, removing the TV as a device and re-adding it. Nothing seems to be working. The power button on the Google TV remote used to control the power of the Samsung TV. My remote is up to date. Firmware 26.0.

I'm sorry to hear that your Chromecast Voice Remote is having issues turning on your TV. I imagine this is pretty annoying, so I'd be happy to help out! Let me just ask you a few questions to better understand where the issue is:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • Is your Chromecast and Samsung TV up-to-date on their firmware?
  • Are you able to power on the TV using the Virtual Remote?
  • Does your TV have any power saving options enabled that could be affecting wake-up via HDMI-CEC?

For now, please make sure all devices are up-to-date, and that there are no settings from the TV that may be affecting the TV from waking up from an HDMI device.

Hey Jeran,

I checked everything you mentioned. I can control the TV power through the Google TV app. Presumably this means there’s an issue with the power button on the remote itself?

Thanks for getting back to us. Could you please try to plug in the Chromecast with Google TV on a different HDMI port on your TV? Also, if applicable, try to plug it in on a different TV screen and test. If the issue persists, try to reset your Chromecast with Google TV and set it up again.

I tried a different Google TV remote and it worked to control the power of the TV so that means it’s an issue with the power button on that specific remote.  Can you please send me a new remote as I just purchased this Google TV chromecast? Thanks
