Hello There,

I have my google chromecast device model H2G2-42 which suddenly stop connecting to TV and light pink light is displaying in chromecast device. I tried changing power USB cable and direct connect with TV to take power from USB as well with power plug from wall. But still its same. light pink light is displaying.

Can anyone here help, what could be the issue. Is it fixable?

Thanks.

Hey there Anuj,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for your patience! I'd be happy to help you out, let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?

  • Is that LED light flashing pink or solid pink?

Take a look at this guide on Chromecast LED lights. If it is flashing red, Chromecast is receiving an update and is not available for casting. You can begin casting once the update is finished and the LED status has turned solid white. However, if it is a solid red, there may be an error with your device. Unplug your Chromecast from the power source, wait about one minute, and then plug it back in. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, perform a factory reset.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,

Jeran

Hi Jeran,

Thanks for the response. Actually it was working fine since last 5 years. I did not use approx one month time, though it was connected with TV HDMI port, but was not using Chromecast to cast anything.(Power was not connected during this time to Chromecast) and when connected last week got this issue.

Its not blinking but just stable pink light. I tried the steps mentioned in the guide already, but, no luck.

Tried for factory reset as well but not sure if it did reset or not.

So it still in pink light when connected with any other usb port or charger as well. As its not completely white or not Red but somewhere in between red and white, displaying as pink light.

If any solution to get it back working that will be very helpful.

Regards,

Anuj

Of course! A stable pink light means that there is an error on the device. When it comes to factory resetting that 1st Generation Chromecast, there are two ways. I would first try these steps:

  • While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV, hold down the button on the Chromecast device for at least 25 seconds or until the solid LED light turns into a flashing red light.
  • Once the LED light turns blinking white and the TV goes blank, release the button. The device will then restart.

From there, try to set up the device again. If that doesn't work, try the factory reset from the Google Home app:

  • Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  • Tap your Chromecast device and then Settings .
  • At the top right, tap More More menu and then Factory reset and then Factory reset.

Then set it up again from there and see if it works!

Thanks for the response Jeran.

Yes I have tried again given steps. After connecting to TV HDMI and power on, pressed Chromecast button, but there is no change in the light. Even after pressing approx 4-5 minutes. On TV continuous message of No Signal.

This did not work. So tried with Google Home app on Mobile. There is no chromecast option coming. So started set up, opened location, bluetooth but it was not able to detect any Chromecast device and link it with home app.

So not sure if it did factory reset or not.

As mentioned there is no change in the light color or pattern. It continuous pink light.

Is there any way around to do reset or something else to check to make it work.

Thanks again for the response and suggestion.

Anuj

Hmm, if that factory reset didn't work, I would suggest that you try a different power cable and USB power-block. However, If that still doesn't work, I'm sorry to say that your Chromecast is dead, and you will have to replace it.

I look forward to your response.

Yes, had already tried with different usb port and cable. But sadly it didn't work.

Is there not any way to know which reflects or shows that it's still have some life or dead 😞

If you can't factory reset with the button on the Chromecast or from the Google Home app, and if changing the power cable and power-block also didn't help, I'm sorry to say there isn't anything you can do with the device at that point. It may have corrupted firmware on there, or it could have a hardware issue. I'm really sorry that there isn't more we can do to help. If you had any more questions or concerns, please let me know.

Thank you,

Jeran

Don't know if this can be open or not. Never tried to open. Not sure if battery or something is there inside.
