Google chromecast with tv broke the tv

I bought chromecast to my sister as a gift since both of their tv was not supporting apps. I really liked google products but, that changed my view completely. After the setup our tv gone black and just giving sound, same for cable tv right now, we thought it is because of the tv and tried the chromecast with the second one. It worked a bit more but not more than couple of hours. It ended same way the tv just gone black screen. It works with sounds and the leds that indicates that tv is working.

I thought that would be a good gift now I am feeling as im in debt to buy 2 TVs.
