I just installed chrome cast with Google tv last night. Google tv keeps casting you tube tv after the tv is turned off. I have to force close to turn off you tube tv. Any ideas

That makes sense, so the power button on the remote does not actually turn off the Google chromecast with Google tv, it is meant to turn off your tv through either IR or CEC/ARC. You can setup your Chromecast remote to power your tv on and off, which should resolve this issue for you.

Is your Chromecast plugged into the hdmi-arc port ? And when you turn off the tv are you using the Chromecast remote or the tv remote?

No, it is plugged into hdmi 2. I use the Google remote to turn off the the Google but still have to turn off tv also. BTW this is a roku tv

The you tube tv app still runs when the tv is turned off. I have to go into the settings and force the app to stop before turning off the tv. Otherwise, the app continues to run continually. When the tv is turned back on, the app starts playing the stations current programming. I can also see the length of playing through the settings.
